Mary Starr - Banana-Walnut Bread Recipe

Ingredients:
4 good size bananas (mashed)             3/4 cup margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla                                1 teaspoon soda
1/2 cup buttermilk                                1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs (well beaten)                             1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups sifted White Lily Bread flour
3/4 cup black walnuts (chopped)

Cream:
Margarine and sugar thoroughly.

Blend in: Bananas, eggs and vanilla.

Sift: White Lily flour, soda and salt together.

Stir into:banana mixture alternately with buttermilk. Add nuts, mix well

Pour into:greased and floured loaf pan.

Bake:at 325 degrees for one hour and fifteen minutes or until done.

    You can also drizzle melted cream cheese over the top for a

     light icing. It makes one very delicious guilty pleasure!

  1. Best recipe ever.My mom gave us a Mary Starr Cookbook in 1989.We grew up on this recipe.She was using it years before.Gonna to make my grandson some tonight.He loves it...He is 18 been eating it al his life
